Don’t Use People, Build People

Don’t Use People, Build People

For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.
Matthew 20:28 (NLT)

Jesus’ model completely transforms the way we see people. In a world where many seek to use others for their own benefit, Jesus teaches us to serve, love, and build up. He did not come to take advantage of people, but to give His life for them. As followers of Christ, we are called to treat people with value, dignity, and love, investing in their growth and well-being.

  • People are not tools, they are treasures Jesus saw every person as someone valuable. He did not use them for His personal benefit; instead, He invested in their lives. God calls us to see people as He sees them: with love, purpose, and eternal value.
  • True leadership focuses on serving, not receiving Jesus came to serve, not to be served. This teaches us that true leadership does not seek its own benefit but rather the growth and well-being of others. Serving is an expression of love and spiritual maturity.
  • Building others up is part of our calling God has placed us in the lives of other people for a purpose. Our words, actions, and example can strengthen, encourage, and help others grow. Building others up means investing in the spiritual and personal development of those around us.
  • Genuine love seeks the well-being of others Jesus gave His life as a ransom for many. This is the ultimate example of love. True love does not seek to take advantage but to bless, help, and lift others up.
  • When we build others up, we reflect the heart of Christ Every time we serve, help, or encourage someone, we are reflecting the character of Jesus. God uses our actions to impact lives and extend His love.

God calls us to live with a servant’s heart, remembering that people are more important than any personal achievement. Do not use people as a means to an end; love them, serve them, and build them up. When you do this, you become an instrument of God’s love and leave an eternal impact on the lives of others.

For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.
Matthew 20:28 (NLT)

Think About It:

  • Am I serving people with a sincere heart or seeking my own benefit?
  • How can I build up and strengthen someone’s life today?
  • Am I following Jesus’ example in the way I treat others?
