We Reproduce What We Are
“And what the priests do, the people also do. So now I will punish both priests and people for their wicked deeds. They will eat and still be hungry. They will play the prostitute and gain nothing from it, for they have deserted the Lord to worship other gods.” Hosea 4:9 (NLT)
God establishes a clear spiritual principle: what we are internally is what we eventually produce externally. In this passage, the Lord shows that the people reflected the spiritual condition of their leaders. This teaches us that our lives do not only affect us, but also those around us. Our character, our decisions, and our relationship with God directly influence what we reproduce in others.
- Our inner life determines our outer influence We cannot give what we do not have. If our life is full of faith, love, and obedience, that is what we will transmit. But if it is full of indifference or disobedience, that will also be reflected. What we are in private will be manifested in public.
- People follow our example more than our words Others observe our lives constantly. Our actions have more impact than our words. If we want to positively influence others, we must live consistently with God’s principles.
- Our relationship with God defines what we reproduce When we draw close to God, His character is formed in us. This allows us to reproduce life, faith, and hope in others. But when we distance ourselves from Him, we lose the ability to produce lasting spiritual fruit.
- We are responsible for our influence Each of us has influence, whether in the family, the church, or the community. God calls us to live with responsibility, knowing that our decisions affect others.
- God desires for us to reproduce His character God’s purpose is for us to reflect His love, His truth, and His faithfulness. When we allow Him to transform our lives, we become instruments that reproduce blessing.
God wants to form in you a firm character and a genuine faith, because He knows that your life will impact others. If you want to reproduce blessing, you must begin by cultivating a deep relationship with Him. What you allow God to form inside of you will be what manifests through your life.
“And what the priests do, the people also do. So now I will punish both priests and people for their wicked deeds. They will eat and still be hungry. They will play the prostitute and gain nothing from it, for they have deserted the Lord to worship other gods.” Hosea 4:9 (NLT)
Think About It:
- What am I reproducing in the people around me with my example?
- Does my life reflect a genuine and close relationship with God?
- What change do I need to make today to reproduce the character of Christ in others?
