Those Who Wanted – Part 2

Those Who Wanted – Part 2

“From all the tribes of Israel, those who sincerely wanted to worship the Lord… followed the Levites to Jerusalem, where they could offer sacrifices to the Lord, the God of their ancestors.”
2 Chronicles 11:16 (NLT)

The Christian life is full of decisions. Many times, it is not a matter of whether we can do something, but whether we want to do it. When we truly desire something, we find a way to achieve it; but when we don’t, we always find excuses.
Those who wanted to worship God in the days of Rehoboam left everything and followed the Levites to Jerusalem. The difficulties didn’t matter— their desire to seek God led them to action.
It’s All About “Wanting”

  • The question is not whether I can forgive, but whether I want to forgive.
  • The question is not whether I can tithe, but whether I want to honor God with my finances.
  • The question is not whether I can pray and read the Bible every day, but whether I want to do it.
  • The question is not whether I can find a job, but whether I want to put in the effort to look for one.
  • The question is not whether I can start a business, but whether I want to pay the price it takes to build my own.
  • The question is not whether I can eat healthy and exercise, but whether I want to change my lifestyle.

Many times, we justify our lack of action with the phrase “I can’t,” when in reality, the problem is that we don’t want it badly enough.
“From all the tribes of Israel, those who sincerely wanted to worship the Lord… followed the Levites to Jerusalem, where they could offer sacrifices to the Lord, the God of their ancestors.”
2 Chronicles 11:16 (NLT)
Think About It:

  1. What areas of your life have you said “I can’t,” when the real question is “Do I want to?”
  2. How would your life change if you made decisions based on what you truly desire to do for God?

What steps can you take today to prove with actions what you claim to want to do?
