Four Habits That Will Help Grow Your Faith

FOUR HABITS THAT WILL HELP GROW YOUR FAITH

“Instead, exercise in the ways of godliness” (1 Timothy 4:7 MEV).

Just as the body needs exercise and good nutrition, so our spirit needs to be well fed and exercised to be healthy. We all need physical exercise just as much as spiritual exercise. We must learn to take the best of our advantage every minute of exercise whether it is physical or spiritual. Today I want to encourage you to develop four spiritual practices that will strengthen your faith.

1. Study the Word of God every day.

If we want to grow we need to personally scrutinize the Bible. We cannot always depend on other to tell us what is God’s will for our lives. We must know His instruction manual on our own and in this way be ready to be used by Him.

“All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work” (2 Timothy 3:16-17 NLT).

2. Read Christian Literature

“He who gets wisdom loves his own soul; he who keeps understanding will find good”
(Proverbs 19:8 MEV).

There are many books that are biblically based that can help you in specific areas you may be going through. Good material can help get to know solutions, ways of doing things and testimonies. It can help you change your way of thinking and acting.

3. Write and tell about your testimony.

“Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have” (1 Peter 3:15 NIV).

We all have a story to tell, an easy or difficult life that has been transformed by God; and it must be shared with others who still do not know Him. Just as nobody can study for you, neither can anyone tell your story. It is easy, just answer these four questions and tell others what God has done with you.

• How was your life before coming to Christ?
• When did you realize you needed Jesus in your life?
• How and when did you give your life to Christ?
• How is your life now?

4. Integrate in a House of Peace.

“So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing”
(1 Thessalonians 5:11 NLT).

In a House of Peace, you can find people with who you can share your life and who will support you while your grow in faith together. If you are still not part of a House of Peace, join. God wants to strengthen your faith through other people.

Think about it:

• What habit do you need to work on today? What changes will you make to practice?
• Have you shared your story to someone? What were the results?
