Human o divine help

HUMAN OR DIVINE HELP

“Give us aid against the enemy, for human help is worthless. With God, we will gain the victory, and he will trample down our enemies (Psalm 60:11-12 NIV).

Have you thought like this before? Have you ever felt like King David?

Due to the continuous growth in the church, twice, we found ourselves in the situation where we had sixty days to vacate the building we were renting for our congregational services and find another place to stay. I ran for help to some mega churches in the city to ask if we could rent their building because soon we would not have a place to meet. Unfortunately, almost always we got a negative answer due to our congregation’s size and our multiple activities.

It was not easy to understand that God was teaching me to trust Him and not men. He wanted to help grow my faith and it was obvious since in both occasions, last minute, He would always help us in a miraculous way.

In life, we find ourselves in situations where a lawyer promises to solve a case, but at the end of the day it cannot be done and we feel as if we wasted our money. We find ourselves with friends who said they would always be there, but when you need them the most they are not there; authority figures that are supposed to protect their city, but in spite of their good will, they do not have enough character to patrol the neighborhoods.

What do we do? Who do we trust? Who can actually help us when our abilities get drained?

Remember not to put your hope on any human being, because though they may be a friend who is trying to help you, they will always have limits and you may be disappointed when you realize that human help is worthless.

Instead, make sure that He who says in His Word has all power and authority to trample your enemies, is on your side.

Do not fear the conflicts you face every day and every week, for these conflicts will develop your faith and make you a better person.

“Give us aid against the enemy, for human help is worthless. With God, we will gain the victory, and he will trample down our enemies (Psalm 60:11-12 NIV).

Time to Reflect:

Have those you thought would help you, closed the door on you?

How many times have you trusted people you thought would help you, but they end up letting you down? What can you do in these kinds of situations?
